Those suffering from terminal illness and their loved ones can find support at the Hospice of Santa Barbara. The organization offers many programs focused on those who struggle with loss. It is estimated that 20 percent of kids lose a parent before 18 years old, while one in 20 lose at least one caretaker before reaching adulthood. Kenny Slaught notes that the Hospice’s programs help people heal from trauma and mitigate issues like depression, anxiety or PTSD.
