About 100 years ago, George Washington Smith started the Spanish Colonial Revival style. Smith moved to Santa Barbara after working as a businessman and studied at Harvard for a while. Taken aback by the popularity of his designs, he decided to continue his works in Santa Barbara and became one of its founding fathers. The architect’s designs are admired for their simplicity, as he used authentic Spanish materials and mixed the old with the new. He influenced many artists, and Kenny Slaught recognizes the keen eye for detail needed to create such amazing pieces.
