The dam was originally named Boulder Dam, later transformed as Hoover Dam after then-President Herbert Hoover, who had made major contributions to the completion of this prodigious project. The dam stands 221 meters in height, 379 meters in length, and containing at least 35.000 cubic kilometers of total capacity, allowing generation of more than 4.2 billion kWh2 per year.
